Lesson Plan: Splatter Paint
Goal: to paint abstractly using a non-traditional technique
Materials:
-
Acrylic or tempera paint
-
Painting paper
-
Paint brush
-
Paper plates
How to Prep:
The only thing I did to prep was to gather my materials and pour puddles of paint onto different paper plates.
Directions for students:
Show the student how to flick the paint brush at the paper instead of directly touching the brush to the paper. Let them play with different size brushes and paint colors to make an awesome design.
What it looks like:
Helpful hints:
Make sure there is a sufficient amount of paint on the brush before the student flicks it. Also if the weather is nice tryi this outdoors as it could get very messy to clean up. Lastly, try to find rocks to weigh down the paper if it’s a windy day because you don’t want your artwork to fly away!
